The romans, Diane de Poitiers, J-H Fabre
Situated on an ancient Roman oppidum, on the edge of the Renjarde hill, the Domaine de la Renjarde Estate is situated on the community of Serignan-du-Comtat, which was Roman long before becoming the property of the Counts of Toulouse, then going to local lords; in the 16th century, the barony of Serignan went to Diane de Poitiers. She stayed there only briefly before her death and abandoned half of her cutting rights in the Renjarde forest to her subjects.
Later on, the famous entomologist Jean Henri Fabre regularly visited the hill of the Renjarde exempt of pollution. Leaving his Harmas of Serignan (today restored and not to be missed), Mr. Fabre went almost daily to the hill of the Renjarde: one of his favorite places for doing watercolours and pursuing his study of insects and plants.
Since January 1968, Alain Dugas and his family have occupied the Renjarde: it is he who presides over the destiny of the Domaine de la Renjarde estate.
